CONTRAST THERAPY

In addition to all the benefits of Sauna and Cold Baths, Contrast Therapy helps with lymphatic circulation, speeds recovery, and boosts immune function.

The key to Contrast Therapies are the rapid changes in your circulatory system when you alternate between hot and cold temperatures. Contrast therapy works on the concept of vasodilatation (which occurs in the heat) and vasoconstriction (which occurs in the cold). This series of hot sauna and cold-water immersion therapy improves local blood circulation so you can heal faster, detoxify, and boost your immunity. You’ll feel healthier and less stressed, be more confident and focused, and sleep better too.

What’s even more profound about Contrast Therapy is its ability to induce lymphatic circulation and speed recovery. While the heart plays an integral role as a central pump for the circulatory system, the lymphatic system (consisting of the lymph nodes) does not have its own natural pump. Due to the dilation and contraction of the lymphatic vessels made possible through Contrast Therapy, stagnant fluid can be removed from injured areas, reducing inflammation and healing damaged tissue.

Wim Hof fans and elite athletes are not the only people loving regular contrast therapy and the impact that it has on our bodies. In fact, Miss Universe Monika Radulovic is a regular to the therapy. Other regulars include business owners, busy moms, those who are interested in their health and wellbeing as well as people with inflamed or itchy skin.

Often though, the fear of the unknown or concern about trying something different prevents people from receiving the benefits of the treatments. Hot/Cold Therapy can have a tremendous impact on your life. Whether you’re recovering from exercise, healing an injury, channeling your inner Wim Hoff, or just looking to add something new to your wellness ritual – our hot and cold contrast therapy may be just what you need.

FAQ

How often should I do Contrast Therapy?

Regular Contrast Therapy will help deliver faster results and more significant changes. How often you do Contrast Therapy should be determined by your personal needs and goals. Many people make contrast therapy a part of their daily or weekly routine. We generally recommend at least one hold cold therapy session per week.

What Temperatures Will I Get To?

During your cold-water session, the temperatures will get as low as 39 degrees. Follow this up with a sauna session where your body will be exposed to temperatures between 187-192 degrees

How should I prepare for my first Contrast Therapy treatment?

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Although alternating between extreme temperatures plays an important role in your Contrast Therapy treatment, it is very important to stay hydrated before, during, and after each session.

Remove any makeup, oils, lotions, and other skin products. You will take a light shower before entering the sauna and ice bath. We also recommend eating a light to moderate snack, 1 to 2 hours before your contrast therapy session.

I’m pregnant. Can I do Contrast Therapy?

No. Do not participate in a Contrast Therapy treatment if you are pregnant.

What are some other common contraindications?

Individuals with cardiovascular conditions or problems, extreme sensitivity, or insensitivity to hot or cold temperatures, congestive heart failure, impaired coronary circulation, or those who are taking medications which might affect blood pressure. If you are using any prescription medication, are a senior or elderly, or have an existing medical condition, or using a pacemaker or defibrillator, please consult your physician. Other contraindications include, but are not limited to, various chronic conditions including Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, Central Nervous System Tumors, Raynaud’s disease, Lupus, Diabetes with Neuropathy, a recent joint injury (should not be heated for the first 48-72 hours after injury or until the hot and swollen symptoms subside), metal pins, rods, artificial joints or any other surgical implants in the body, pregnancy, or being under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Make sure you are hydrated before, during, and after your visit.  Always consult your physician.
